Writer's block isn't something I often get; but it's fucking horrible when it does come about.

Last year, I decided that if I encountered a speed bump during writing periods, I'd make a short film. I had no idea what I wanted to get from the experience, so I just filmed some footage whilst working both in my flat and whilst travelling up around the Scottish Isles.

I had intended to come up with a story at some point, but having accumulated a couple of hours of film, I thought okay, why not just do a short about writer's block. The frustration is there, the tension is there. It's all real. Cutting it together was a bit of a nightmare, because did I mention, I had no idea what I wanted in the first place, so it was hard to make scenes work in order to deliver the story.

Disclaimer: this is by no means my greatest work. It's just a pet project, shot mostly on an iPhone 5 as well as a Canon 5D.

So here you are. I share with you, an insight into my occasional frustrations as a jobbing writer.
